Great post! I hardly ever post status updates on fb and I use it primarily for personal contacts, not professional ones, although my former advisor and several colleagues from grad school are in my contact list. I don't mention the blog on fb because of that! I don't see much use for twitter so far. Sometimes I feel it would be interesting to have two twitter accounts, one for more general things such as news and famous bloggers, etc. and another for friends and personal connections. One thing that seemed to work was to share new blog posts there, but you're right, if that's all a person does on twitter, it gets annoying after a while. I don't know if I'll ever get "into" twitter. I think I like fb better.

Yep, that's an important point. I wish you could play those games without posting so much to your wall. I don't remind receiving notices, but it can be embarrassing to have a lot of game posts on your wall.

Thanks for this post. Another thing I've learned is to try to keep the posts about Facebook games to a minimum - they annoy people when you post a lot of them, and I've received some awkward comments in person like "Wow, you've been playing FarmVille a lot lately!" I use the Friend Lists to create groups for the friends who play certain games (mostly FarmVille and Cafe World) and whenever Facebook asks to post something from these games, I select the option to show it to only certain friends and then just type in the name of the list.
