I just wanted to write a note here to say that I won’t be around for a while.  I am here at my dad’s.  My stepmother died yesterday after 8 years of suffering with breast cancer.  Though her death wasn’t unexpected, it wasn’t planned for either.  And it is still a blow.  She died too soon. She will be missed.

  1. I’m sorry to hear it. 8 years of breast cancer is a long time, both for her and for your family.

Take care, and (as a breast cancer “survivor” –so far ), understand that breast cancer is often more difficult for the patient’s family and friends. She was blessed with a wonderful support system. I’m sure you will miss her.

  19. I knew your step-Mom when I was an awkward pre-adolescent in the 60s. My folks and hers were friends, and she and my older siblings were friends. Even though she looked like a goddess, she was very sweet and friendly to this little feller who thought he was generally invisible to most other people! I’m sorry for her passing, your family is in my prayers.
